Do Two Different Approaches to the Season in Modeling Affect the Predicted Distribution of Fish? A Case Study for Decapterus maruadsi in the Offshore Waters of Southern Zhejiang, China

The relationships between environmental factors and fish density are closely related, species distribution models (SDMs) have been widely used in exploring these predicting the spatial of fishery resources. When prediction different seasons, method choosing appropriate approach to season will help improve predictive performance model. Based on data collected from 2015 2020 during a survey off southern Zhejiang, Tweedie-GAM was establish relationship Decapterus maruadsi at modeling approaches. results showed that water temperature, salinity depth were main influencing D. maruadsi, they operated through mechanisms even resulted opposite trends seasons. Spatially, two approaches also differed with seasonal model showing higher trend inshore waters than offshore spring but summer autumn, which more consistent actual resource. By analyzing effects resources, this study aims provide research ideas references for improving SDMs.
